ABOUT

We are a husband and wife team and big advocates for connected communities.  Our belief is that the health and wealth of a community, town, or city are directly related to the viability and vibrancy of its small business community and our goal is to nurture the collaborative symbiosis that exists between business and consumer in every community we serve.

You do what you do. And we will tell people about it. Our strategy and services are designed to elevate locally owned and operated businesses serving a local audience. Our team serves our clients and community with the best of ourselves every day, delivering high-quality social media management, content creation, logo and branding design, marketing support, website design, promotional products, and more.

When we aren't working with our amazing clients, we support our immediate community by volunteering our time, skills, and services to a variety of non-profit and community-run organizations, such as Apex Downtown Business Association, the Triangle Art Works, Peak City Podcast and the Apex Farmers Market.  You might even catch Leif on the local baseball fields coaching T-ball this season for the Town of Apex

Alexis Jenssen
Founder & Creative Director

I am originally from Portland, Oregon and I've been in North Carolina since 2007.  For the past nearly 18 years, I've been supporting the growth of indie businesses and non-profit organizations.  I have owned and operated award-winning brick & mortar retail and service-based businesses and I believe our clients benefit, not just from my years of expierence, education, and knowledge of marketing, development, and branding but from my expierence as a small business owner working to make my dreams grow.

When I'm not supporting our awesome clients and community, I enjoy traveling with my family, cooking, and reading.

Leif Jenssen. The Bowerbird Agency

Leif Jenssen
COO & Head of Promotions

I am from Yakima, Washington. My family and I moved to North Carolina in 2007 and that's when I joined in with Alexis on Bowerbird Agency, (Formally Alexis Jenssen Design). On the West Coast, I worked for twelve years in project management in the film industry and the largest stop-motion stage in the country.  I love that I get to have the opportunity to help our community grow with our support and services. Promotional products are such a fun and effective way to grow your brand, nurture client relationships, and remain top-of-mind with your audience. I enjoy working with our clients to create the perfect product or products to help their brand truly shine!

When I'm not in the office with the team, I love to travel with my family, grill, and relax in the yard on the weekends, and catch a Seattle Mariners game when I can!!

Danielle Ward. The Bowerbird Agency

Danielle Ward

Marketing Director

Originally from Chatham, NJ, I spent 12 years working in libraries across New England. I answered reference questions, sang and danced at storytimes, and rode a Bookmobile before spending the last five years doing marketing and communications for a mid-size library outside of Boston. After moving to the area in August 2020, "I am excited to be transitioning from promoting libraries to celebrating indie businesses and nonprofits in the Triangle. I currently live in Cary with my husband, two daughters, and pup, Winnie."
